Who we are
Our company was founded in 1922 by Zaccaria Bimbi , known as “Gastone”, who after the end of the First World War dedicated himself to the fabric trade using a horse-drawn cart, a working method typical of traders of the time.
Gastone opened the first shop in 1930, precisely in Forcoli where both retail and wholesale sales were carried out. After the Second World War he also began to make household goods such as kits and tablecloths etc.
In 1957
The founder’s sons Vittorio and Giuseppe joined the company and immediately made a truly important contribution to the economic expansion of the current company reality. In the years of the economic boom, the production and trade of household linen allowed us to reach the entire national market both for the quality of the products and for the excellent work carried out by Giuseppe on a commercial level. The quality of the products was guaranteed by the introduction of a large-scale production system which was able to satisfy the demand throughout the peninsula established by Vittorio Bimbi. The packages that were produced were named “Monica packages” and still remain one of the greatest successes of our company today.
In the second half of the 80’s
The Nord-Est Gascompany division is born , a name chosen in honor of Gastone, managed by Nicola Bimbi, his nephew and Giuseppe’s son. Initially it only dealt with underwear and immediately stood out for the production and marketing of the line of boxers in 100% cotton for shirts. Thus the brand expands thanks to the work carried out at a commercial level with various participations in international trade fairs.
In 1990 Nicola Bimbi took the reins of the company and in addition to carrying forward the boxer brand, he continued to develop the core business of fabrics , in particular concentrating on their trade. since 2014, the year in which Nord-Est became a full-fledged company with the entry of partner Yuri Benvenuti who takes care of all the company’s production, the historic headquarters moved to Pontedera.
