Our company was founded in 1949 by Johann Oltmanns senior. Despite the poor economic situation, he became self-employed. The company began in his parents’ home in Förrien. After a few years, the rooms in the family home became too small and the company moved to Jever at the beginning of 1952, where it can still be found today.
Live poultry was traded until the 1960s. Depending on the season, entire hunts were bought in the regional area and marketed across the Ruhr area to the weekly markets in Frankfurt. At the Cloppenburg Egg Exchange, the Oltmanns company bought fresh eggs, which were screened by hand and sorted according to quality classes and weight. Sales extended to the Berlin area.
From this point on, the frozen and fresh food business became more and more important. The goods are transported using modern refrigerated and frozen vehicles. Due to the constant expansion of the product range, the company required more and more space.
In 1985, Johann Oltmann Jr.’s son took over. his parents’ business and continued to run it successfully with his wife. The range was expanded and to this day the Oltmanns company supplies restaurants, snack bars, commercial kitchens, butcher shops and offices in Jever and the surrounding area.
The products are tailored to customer requirements, such as printed napkins, packaging materials with company prints and fresh and frozen foods.
Since 2012, the family business has been run in the third generation by daughter Tomke Mandel and her husband Daniel.
