OUR HISTORY
In 1947 a small artisan company was born in Florence, thanks to the passion for fabrics and the brilliant creativity of Vittoria Camerino Martinetti.

Beautiful, particular fabrics, exclusively in 100% Pure Linen and all made by hand, with which tablecloths of a hundred colors were produced, with exclusive and cutting-edge colors for that era in which household linen was synonymous with “white ”.

After more than seventy years, the “one hundred” colors of linen are still in our collections, updated according to fashion trends and stylistic needs.

In 1947 a small artisan company was born in Florence, thanks to the passion for fabrics and the brilliant creativity of Vittoria Camerino Martinetti: beautiful, particular fabrics, exclusively linen and all by hand, with which tablecloths of a hundred colors were produced, with exclusive and cutting-edge for that era in which household linen was synonymous with “white”.

Much of the production was sold abroad and in particular in the United States: we were most likely the first Italian home linen company to be on display in American shop windows.

Tessilarte customers, even today, are the most sophisticated and elegant shops in Italy and in the world. The historic headquarters has always been in Florence in via Toselli 100.

Since 1969, Paola Martinetti Graziano, architect, has been the creator and stylist of the collections.

Thus, Vittoria Camerino and Paola Martinetti: two all-female generations have nurtured this Italian company, also making it grow in its global fame, maintaining innovation without forgetting tradition.

The Tessilarte logo has always been one of the tiles in Giotto’s bell tower which represents the art of weaving.

The weaving panel, designed by Giotto and made in Florence in Andrea Pisano’s workshop, is the most refined of the entire cycle: we are in 1340 and what is striking is to see how the activity to which Florence owed its wealth was presented by a Florentine company in the fourteenth century in which only women worked.

A tribute, therefore, to the culture and artisan creativity of our land.
